Languages

Egyptian Arabic is the most widely spoken language. English and French are used for tourism and business.

Driving

Drive on the right. Modern highways connect Cairo to Alexandria and the Sinai. Some have tolls.

Camping

Wild camping is not common, but it is possible in deserts with guides. There are campsites by the Red Sea and in oases.

Routes through the Western Desert, oases and roads along the Red Sea are popular.

In Cairo there are areas of restricted traffic and very heavy traffic.
