Australia is the sixth largest country in the world, occupying an entire continent. It is known for its interior deserts (“Outback”), Great Barrier Reef, modern cities like Sydney and Melbourne, and unique wildlife.
Climate
Very varied: tropical in the north, desert in the center, temperate in the south, and Mediterranean in some coastal areas.
Languages
English is dominant. There are many immigrant community languages and over 250 Aboriginal languages, although few are still spoken.
Driving
Driving is on the left. Some highways have electronic tolls (e-tag), but most are free.
Camping
Wild camping is allowed in many areas, especially on public lands (“rest areas”). There are also numerous campsites and caravan parks.

Iconic roads include the Great Ocean Road (Victoria), Nullarbor Plain (South), and the Queensland coast.

Major cities like Sydney and Melbourne have paid parking zones and heavy traffic in the center.
