Paraguay is an inland country in South America, located between Brazil, Argentina and Bolivia. Known as the “heart of South America”, it has a culture that mixes indigenous and colonial traditions. It is famous for the Paraguay River, the Monday Falls and the Itaipu dam (one of the largest in the world).
Climate
Subtropical, with hot, humid summers and mild winters.
Languages
Spanish and Guaraní are official languages, the latter being spoken by the majority of the population. Bilingualism is common in everyday life.
Driving
Drive on the right. The main roads are in reasonable condition, but many secondary roads are dirt. There are some tolls, paid at manual booths.
Camping
Wild camping is not common, but it is possible in rural areas. More common is the use of organized campsites and private farms.
Biker Zones
Interesting routes include roads along the Paraguay River, the Jesuit Missions region and the vicinity of the Itaipu dam.
