Angola is one of the largest countries in Africa and is located on the west coast of the continent. It is known for its rich cultural heritage, natural beauty – such as the Kalandula waterfalls, the Namib desert and the Kwanza River – and a cuisine marked by Portuguese and African influences.
Climate
Tropical, with a dry season (May to October) and a rainy season (November to April). The coast is drier, while the interior has a humid and hot climate.
Languages
Portuguese is the official and most widely spoken language. There are also several national languages, such as Umbundu, Kimbundu, Kikongo and Chokwe.
Driving
Drive on the right. The main roads are in good condition, but the secondary roads can be bumpy. Some modern highways have tolls, paid at manual booths.
Camping
Wild camping is possible in rural and coastal areas, although caution is advised. There are campsites and lodges in the tourist areas.
Biker Zones
Popular routes include the coastal road between Luanda and Benguela, the landscapes of the Namib desert and the mountains of Huíla.
Special Zones
Luanda has heavy traffic, pedestrian zones in the center and controlled parking.
