Colombia is the only country in South America with coastlines on both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. It’s famous for its coffee, cultural diversity, cities like Bogotá, Medellín and Cartagena, and for its exuberant nature, which stretches from the Amazon to the Andes.
Climate
Very varied: tropical in the lowlands, temperate in the mountains and humid in the Amazon. Altitude influences more than the seasons.
Languages
Spanish is predominant. There are also around 65 indigenous languages recognized in different regions.
Driving
Drive on the right. The highways are generally good, with tolls paid at manual booths. Mountain roads can be challenging.
Camping
Wild camping is not common and is not recommended for safety reasons. There are campsites in tourist areas and natural areas.
Biker Zones
Popular routes include the Coffee Hub region, Andean roads and the Caribbean coast.
Special Zones
Bogotá has a vehicle restriction system called Pico y Placa, which limits the circulation of cars according to the license plate number and the day of the week.
