The climate is subarctic oceanic, with cold winters and cool summers. The weather changes quickly and can be unpredictable.

Driving
Drive on the right. There are no freeways in the traditional sense; the Ring Road (Route 1) goes around the country. There are no tolls for cars, except in the Vaðlaheiðargöng tunnel.
Camping
Wild camping is allowed in some rural areas, but is increasingly regulated. There are many organized campsites.
Biker Zones
The Ring Road is the most popular route, allowing you to explore waterfalls, glaciers and volcanoes. Mountain roads (F-roads) are challenging but only accessible in summer.
Special Zones
Reykjavík has central pedestrian areas and paid parking zones.
