Wild camping is possible in remote areas, but local guides are recommended for safety reasons. There are some campsites in towns and near oases.
Biker Zones
The routes across the Sahara desert are challenging and popular with adventure motorcyclists, such as the famous Dakar Rally (an ancient route across the country).
Special Zones
Nouakchott and Nouadhibou have disorganized traffic, with poorly regulated parking. In border and military zones, access is restricted.
