Ecuador is a compact country full of contrasts for motorcyclists, with routes that pass through volcanoes, Amazon jungles and the mythical Equator, always surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.

Ecuador is a South American country crossed by the equator, known for its enormous diversity: the Amazon, the Andes, the Pacific coast and the Galapagos Islands. Quito and Cuenca preserve beautiful colonial centers.

Climate

Very varied: humid tropical in the Amazon, temperate in the Andes and dry/tropical on the coast. In the Galapagos, the climate is oceanic with two seasons (hot and cool).

Languages

Spanish is the predominant language. Quechua and Shuar are recognized as intercultural languages. English is spoken in tourist areas.

Driving

Drive on the right. There are some modern highways with tolls (paid at booths, usually cheap). Andean roads can be challenging.

Camping

Wild camping is possible in natural areas, but safer in national parks or organized campsites.

Biker Zones

Popular routes include the Avenue of the Volcanoes (along the Andes), the road to Baños and the trip to the Galapagos (boat with motorcycle is not common).

Special Zones

Quito and Cuenca have pedestrianized historic centers and controlled traffic zones
