Estonia is the northernmost of the Baltic countries, situated on the Baltic Sea. It is known for its forests, islands and the capital Tallinn, whose medieval historic center is very well preserved. It is also a highly digitalized nation, nicknamed “e-Estonia”.

The climate is cold temperate, with long, cold winters and mild summers. Snow is common between November and March.

Languages

The official language is Estonian, of Finno-Ugric origin. Russian is widely spoken due to the Russian community. English is common in urban areas.

Driving

Drive on the right. There are no tolls on roads or highways. Speed limits may vary according to the season (lower in winter).

Camping

Wild camping is allowed in many natural areas, as long as private property and protected areas are respected. There are also official campsites.

The coastal routes and inland forests are very popular. Tallinn and the island of Saaremaa are popular spots for motorcyclists.
