Greece is located in south-eastern Europe and is famous for its ancient history, philosophy, mythology and classical architecture. Athens, the capital, stands out for its Parthenon and other historical monuments. The country is also known for its Aegean and Ionian islands, stunning beaches and Mediterranean cuisine.
Climate
The climate is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. On the islands, the climate is slightly milder.
Languages
The official language is Greek. In tourist areas, English is widely understood, and French and German are also spoken by some locals.
Driving
Drive on the right. Some highways are toll roads (manual or electronic payment). Speed limits are strictly enforced.
Camping
Wild camping is prohibited in many areas, especially on islands and in nature parks. There are, however, regulated campsites.
Biker Zones
Coastal routes, such as the Peloponnese peninsula, and island roads, such as Crete, are very popular with motorcyclists.
Special Zones
In the historic centers of Athens and the main tourist cities, car access is limited and parking is controlled.
