Hungary, located in Central Europe, is famous for its unique culture and traditions. Budapest, the capital, is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, divided by the Danube River between Buda and Pest. The country is also known for its thermal baths and Lake Balaton, the “Hungarian Sea”.

Climate

The climate is continental, with hot, dry summers and cold, often snowy winters.

Languages

The official language is Hungarian, of Finno-Ugric origin, considered one of the most difficult in Europe. In tourist areas, English and German are relatively common.

Driving

Drive on the right. To drive on highways, you need to buy an electronic sticker (E-matrica), which can be purchased online, in service areas or at gas stations.

Camping

Wild camping is prohibited, but there is a good network of campsites around Budapest, Lake Balaton and in natural areas.

Biker Zones

Hungary offers pleasant routes around Lake Balaton and the hills of the Mátra and Bükk region. The roads along the Danube are also very popular.

Special Zones

Budapest has traffic restrictions in some central and historic areas, where car access is limited. Parking is paid in most parts of the city.
