Namibia is an incredible destination for motorcyclists, with roads that cross deserts, canyons and the famous Skeleton Coast, offering vast landscapes and a unique sense of freedom.

Capital: Windhoek

Official Language: English (official), with several national languages (Afrikaans, German, Oshiwambo, Herero, Nama, etc.)

Emergency Number: 10111 (police) / 211111 (ambulances and fire department in Windhoek)

Currency: Namibian Dollar (NAD), also accepts South African Rand (ZAR)

Card payments are common in cities, cash is still useful in remote areas.

Freeway: 120 km/h

Road: 100 km/h (main roads), 80km/h (gravel)

Localities: 60 km/h

Namibia is located in southwest Africa and is known for the Namib Desert, the Sossusvlei dunes, the Skeleton Coast and national parks such as Etosha. It is one of the safest and most organized countries on the continent for nature and adventure tourism.

Climate

Arid and semi-arid. Hot, dry summers, with some rain inland; mild winters. The coast is cool due to the cold Benguela Current.

Languages

English is official, but Afrikaans, German and several local languages (Oshivambo, Nama, Herero) are widely spoken.

Driving

Drive on the left. The main roads are in good condition, but many are gravel. There are practically no tolls.

Camping

Wild camping is tolerated in remote areas, but it is recommended to use organized campsites (many within national parks).

Biker Zones

Scenic roads include the Namib Desert, the Damaraland region and the Swakopmund-Walvis Bay coastal road.

Special Zones

Windhoek has paid parking areas in the center. In protected natural areas, access is restricted.
