Senegal is a vibrant destination for motorcyclists, with roads linking deserts, Atlantic coastlines and cities full of music, color and African hospitality.

Card payments are accepted in the cities, but cash remains essential in most parts of the country.

Senegal is located on the west coast of Africa, known for its hospitality (“teranga”), Atlantic beaches, music (mbalax), Gorée Island and Lake Rosa. Dakar is a vibrant and multicultural city.

Climate

Tropical, with a dry season (November to May) and a rainy season (June to October).

Languages

French is official. Wolof is the most widely spoken language in everyday life, as well as other national languages (pulaar, serer, diola). English and Portuguese are rarely spoken.

Driving

Drive on the right. There are modern toll roads (e.g. Dakar-Diamniadio), with payment booths.

Camping

Wild camping is possible in rural areas, but safer in organized campsites or eco-lodges.

Biker Zones

Coastal roads between Dakar, Saly and Saint-Louis are popular with motorcyclists.

Special Zones

Dakar has heavy traffic and central areas with paid or limited parking.
