Sweden is the largest country in Scandinavia, known for its lakes, forests and modern cities with a historical tradition. Stockholm, built on islands, is one of Europe’s most beautiful capitals.
Climate
The climate is varied: temperate in the south, continental in the center and subarctic in the north. Winters are long and cold, especially in Lapland.
Languages
The official language is Swedish. Finnish is recognized in some regions, and English is widely spoken.
Driving
Drive on the right. Some cities, such as Stockholm and Gothenburg, have urban tolls (congestion tax). Freeways are generally free.
Camping
Wild camping is permitted under the “right of access to nature” law (Allemansrätten), as long as private property and the environment are respected.
Biker Zones
The west coast (Göteborg to Malmö) and the roads of Swedish Lapland are very popular with motorcyclists.
Special Zones
Stockholm has urban tolls and restricted central areas. Other larger cities have pedestrian zones.
